Natraj Dance School...
In the center of a large hall stood a 20-year-old girl. She was wearing a red Anarkali suit, and had wrapped her dupatta around her waist. The rhythm of ghunghroos on her feet and various hand gestures she was forming. Dancing to classical music, she moved as if Lord Natraj himself was performing there.
As soon as the music ended and the girl's feet stopped, all the other girls and the Guru Maa present there looked at her and clapped loudly.
The girl was smiling and looking at Guru Maa. Guru Maa came near her, placed her hands on the girl's cheeks, and said… “Today, I truly felt that whatever I taught you is very little. You perform much better than that.”
A smile appeared on the girl's face, and she bent down to touch Guru Maa's feet. Blessing her, Guru Maa said, “Chahat, I am very happy that I have trained you to perfection in this art. But I want you to reach even greater heights. You are not just my student; you are like my own child. I have taught you dance since childhood, so I want my disciple to make her name shine across the world.”
Chahat looked at her Guru Maa, folded her hands, and said, “Guru Maa! Whatever I have learned, I have learned only from you. I am glad you liked my dance. And to be honest, I also dream of opening a dance school, but you know my circumstances.”
Guru Maa let out a deep breath and said, “We will talk about this later. Go and drink some water first.”
Chahat Bansal. A 20-year-old beautiful, gentle, and Kathak-expert dancer. With her slim body and delicate arms and legs, when she dances, it feels as if time should stop right there and her dance should continue forever. Black eyes and long hair, which she often braids and brings to the front. A golden bindi on her forehead and a gold nose ring. When she smiles with her slightly crooked teeth, her smile can mesmerize anyone.
Chahat goes to the water cooler, takes a glass, and drinks water. Just then, her same-aged friend Prerna arrives. Seeing Chahat, Prerna puts her hand on Chahat's shoulder, gives her a side hug, and says… “Hi, my dear! You were amazing. To learn dance like yours, I would have to take another birth.”
Hearing Prerna's words, Chahat laughs and says, “Oh, you liar! You also study dance in this same academy and you tell me you would need another birth? You dance no less. I've seen your dance. You do very well.”
Prerna said playfully, “Yes… I dance well. But you dance excellently. Watching your dance, I feel like you should just keep dancing, and I should keep playing the ghunghroo rhythm on your beat.”
Hearing Prerna's words, Chahat also starts laughing. Their dance class ends, and both of them come out of the dance school. Sitting in her car, Prerna asks Chahat, “Should I drop you home if you want?” But Chahat quickly says, “No, no! No need. I've brought my scooter today.”
Prerna makes a face and says, “You brought that junk again?”
Chahat looks at Prerna with helpless eyes and says, “Don't say that, yaar. I bought it second-hand on installments.”
Prerna slaps her own forehead and says, “You crazy girl! If you had to buy it on installments anyway, you could have at least bought a brand new one.”
Chahat said helplessly, “But where do I have that much money to buy a brand new scooter? I worked double shifts, taught tuition to kids, only then could I manage to get this second-hand scooter. Otherwise, I wouldn't have even gotten this.”
Prerna says, “What's the use of being the daughter of such a big family when you have to beg for every penny? The Bansal family has a name and status across this entire city. And you! Being the daughter of that house, you manage by saving every single rupee. Both your brothers are such big businessmen. Just yesterday, your elder brother's picture was printed in a magazine, and your younger brother's name is also nominated for Business of the Year this year. Tell me, being the daughter of such a big family, you ride such a second-hand scooter? Don't your brothers feel ashamed?”
Hearing Prerna's words, Chahat's face falls. Prerna was right; her family is a well-known wealthy family in this city, yet she manages her expenses by saving every single penny. How could she explain to Prerna why she doesn't take money from her brothers or why her condition is like this? Chahat quickly says, “Leave all that and tell me… I had asked you for a job, right? Yaar, please, if there is any work, let me know. I really need a job.”
Prerna lets out a deep breath and says, “Yes… I have talked at a couple of places. As soon as I get an update from there, I will call you.”
Chahat becomes happy and nods her head in agreement. Prerna and Chahat sit in their respective vehicles and leave from there. Chahat was going on her scooter when a black car crossed her, speeding ahead rapidly. Chahat quickly stopped her scooter; otherwise, due to the car's speed, her scooter's balance was disturbed. Chahat was looking at her scooter in surprise, checking if it was damaged. Just then, she heard a loud scream.
